    The Lost Fairy Tale Of Krakow

    [Just One of Best MSN Spaces ]

    Dear Gabrielle,
     
    If ever there was a place that could spin a girl's fantasy into overdrive, it is Krakow, Poland.
     
     
    From the charming pebbled streets to magnificent towering castles. From romantic horse drawn carriages to handsome Polish princes - it is enough to make a girl crave for a fairytale-like existence.
     
     
    Had I been in Krakow a year ago, I would have been giddy - fantasising and making wishes upon falling stars! Yes, very much like the hopeless romantic you used to know then.. 
     
     
    Yet last weekend, as I stood in the midst of the Old Town Square with all of its magical splendour, it dawned on me. I was sadly, unaffected. There was no dreaming of knights on white horses. No wishes of happy-ever-after endings. 
     
     
    For the first time, I saw things as they truly are. Pebbled streets, made of dusty, broken concretes. Towering castles without their occupants. Horse drawn carriages going round in circles. Handsome princes, mortally flawed.
     
     
    This girl has fallen down to earth. Her feet are on the ground.
     
    Now Gabe, a part of me appreciates this newfound wisdom. With this new set of beliefs, I become more real, slightly experienced and less prone to unneccesary disapointments.
     
     
    The other part of me, grieves for the loss of innocence. It never was my plan to become jaded. It is obvious that I am.
     
     
    Funny how one can be in a fairy tale place like Krakow and suddenly realise, she does not believe in fairy tales anymore...

    My granparents were from Poland.  I've always thought it would be a nice place to visit, but you don't often hear people say, "I think I'll vacation this year in Polnad," you know?  You make it sound interesting even if you do see everything in a more realistic way now.

    I think once a a romantic... always a romantic.... even if your romantic side is not present at the moment, I think it will pop out at some point.  I hope  you enjoyed Krakow, Poland despite the lack of fairy dust.

       Of course you still believe in fairytales....you must, you must!!  ;)  What has happened?  Who has put this damper on that magical heart of yours?  Let me at 'em!!  ;)  Surely this won't last long...you are much to special to let anyone truly bring you down.  It's that spark, Elle....remember?  YOU'VE GOT IT    and ultimately, once the dust settles...that spark will take flight again!
